Euneclastaia

All of my work is derivative of my polar experiences, and my extensive and ongoing studies of all things polar.

The works in this exhibition are limited to members of my series Rhegmalogia, and to a lesser extent, Frieze, which is closely related. Beyond this, this body of work is further focussed on geology. To explain:

Technically, I am predomitably a sheetsmith; for decades I have slowly evolved personal languages creating enclosed volumes with the illusion of significant mass despite a reality of very light weight. This applies not only to my indoor wall-displayed work, as seen here, but to my outdoor freestanding efforts as well. Within this framework, I often include other materials into the metal matrix. In this subseries the pieces all include items I have personally collected from the earth’s crust. These are always, to me, of special interest, such as fossils, story-telling clasts, water evidence in sandstone layers, and so on. My aspiration is that the narrative tension between the materials will create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.
